I have officially found my new favourite workout spot! SurfSet Toronto is a fun, unique workout that’ll give you a nice toned, surfers body…. Without having to move to California.
Most of you guys know that I am a huge fan of surfing. Am I very good? No….. But I still love it! I remember my first surfing trip to Nicaragua (read about that here), I could not believe how sore my body was! Paddling, duck-diving, popping up on the board, balancing on the small board and rocky waves… it is a full body work out! The great part is, you’re having so much fun that you don’t realize how hard it is on your body! These are the principles that Surf Set T.O uses to give you that full body work out while having a great time.
I tried SurfsetTO out for the first time this past weekend and fell in love! I met the owner, Andrzej and let me tell you, this guy is the real deal! He is SO passionate about what he does and he is a huge part of the Toronto surfing community. Andrzej has set up his gym so that anyone can reap the benefits of the workout… not just surfers!
I sat down with Andrzej and asked him what his favourite thing about owning this gym is, he responded with:
The people are the best thing about about this place. Our gym brings in such interesting, adventurous and wonderful people. We have built a great community here.
Once I spent some time there, I could see exactly what Andrzej was talking about! You get a very strong sense of community here. The staff know everyone’s names, and the other members are all chatting before and after the class. The class itself was amazing, but I really enjoyed getting to know the other members and sitting down and talking surfing, travel, reading, and netflix with Andrejz. We also spoke about their upcoming surf trip to Ecuador! (If you are interested in hearing more about the Ecuador trip and how you can join, leave a comment down below and I will get back to you!)
Different Class Options
There are 4 difference classes available. Surf Circuit, Blend, Build and Balance. Read more about the different classes on their website here.
I tried the Blend Class to get a mixture of everything. The boards have different resistances which affect the stability, so you can decide if you’d like to make the class more challenging, depending on your fitness level! Being someone that works out regularly, and having been on a surf board a few times in my life I thought I’d be a pro! But no way, it is still very challenging and had me sweating like crazy – You can really feel all your muscles being engaged! The class went through a series of different exercises and flows that focus on full body toning as well as stretching and balancing. Andrzej taught our class, and was great at providing different variations of the moves for people of all fitness levels!
They have a few different package options so you can decide if you want to drop in for a class, buy a package of classes or get an unlimited membership! A breakdown of all the prices and package options can be found here.
You can use my promo code, “WL3” until January 1st for a discount on a class, package or membership!
I have always been resistant to boutique workout places because typically they only focus on one thing. I want a yoga membership for my flexibility and balance, I want a cycling membership for my butt and legs, I want a pilates membership for toning… but all these places get so expensive! What I love about SurfsetTO, is it truly combines all these niche workouts, in a fun and effective way! So I can get all the things I want with only one membership.
If you are looking for a fun new work out that is guaranteed to work your entire body, then you definitely have to try this place out! This is going to be my new favourite workout spot, so if you are thinking of dropping in for a class, let me know and I’d love to join you!
Don’t forget to use my promo code “WL3” for a discount on a class, package or membership! Only valid until Jan 1st!
This post is the result of a collaboration between myself and Surf Set T.O. As always, all thoughts and opinions expressed are completely my own.
